Lesson Plans: Three lessons plans have engaging video content from The Rose and the Poppy Film Series which was commissioned by the RFU to tell the story of rugby and the Great War; from the rugby pitches to the battlefields.

The lesson timings suggested in the plans can be amended to suit the lesson timings of each school and are only there for guidance. They are loosely based upon 60 minute lessons. Differentiation and challenge has been made explicit in all of the lessons but should be amended in light of the specific group to be taught and their requirements for stretch or further support.

Rugby Remembers: In partnership with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) we have launched Rugby Remembers – a project to honour rugby players from all levels who lost their lives in the First World War.

Rugby Remembers challenges young people to find out about players from their own rugby club or school who died in the First World War by looking at Rolls of Honour and memorials and the CWGC website to discover their stories.

To be in with a chance of winning you need to visit either a CWGC UK site or a memorial board in in your school or club and upload a photo to Twitter or Facebook using #rugbyremembers and @CWGC. The best submissions will win tickets to the Old Mutual Wealth Cup: England v Barbarians Match on Sunday 28 May. Full details and resource pack below.
