ELEGOO has launched the M1 Ultra, its first all-in-one smart 3D scanner, moving the Chinese 3D printing brand into a new product category. The scanner went on sale on October 29, 2026, at a standard retail price of USD 1,699, with early-bird pricing of USD 1,599 available through November 12. ELEGOO is positioning the device for professional work in customization, reverse engineering, education, digital archiving and other creative projects.

Precision and capture hardware

ELEGOO says the M1 Ultra reaches blue laser scanning accuracy of up to 0.02 mm, with volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm plus 0.06 mm per meter. The company describes the system as metrology-grade. To support consistent results, the scanner uses an all-glass optical system, intelligent temperature compensation and high-precision camera calibration. Global-shutter cameras are intended to reduce motion blur and distortion during capture.

The device also records color. It offers 24-bit full-color texture mapping with image signal processing optimization, so users can capture an object's geometry and appearance for downstream work.

Five modes for different objects

The M1 Ultra provides five scanning modes:

  • A 34-line blue laser mode for medium-to-large objects.
  • A 7-line blue laser mode for fine details on small-to-medium parts.
  • A single-line blue laser mode for deep holes, narrow gaps and hard-to-reach areas.
  • An infrared structured-light mode for faces, bodies and objects.
  • A marker-free blue laser mode for surfaces where applying markers is impractical.

The scanner supports objects from 5 x 5 x 5 mm to 4,000 x 4,000 x 4,000 mm. ELEGOO also says it can scan black and metallic surfaces without coating powder, which the company says provides more flexibility across materials and environments.

Portable design and scan-to-model workflow

The M1 Ultra is designed for use in different workspaces. It has a 3-inch HD touchscreen, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and a 4,800 mAh swappable battery that supports up to 1.5 hours of wireless scanning. ELEGOO describes the handheld body as lightweight and ergonomic.

The scanner works with ELEGOO SCAN software. Guided setup, tracking assistance and multi-scan alignment are intended to simplify capture, while automated one-click processing handles mesh wrapping, mesh optimization and color mapping. Scan data can be exported in STL, OBJ, PLY and ASC formats for compatible third-party software, allowing scanned objects to move into design, modeling and manufacturing workflows.

Consumer brands expand into scanning

The launch expands ELEGOO's product ecosystem and follows a broader move by desktop 3D printing companies into adjacent creation tools. Creality used IFA 2026 in Berlin to show a lineup spanning multicolor printing, filament recycling, resin printing, 3D scanning, laser processing and 3D printed footwear. Its Pika 3D scanner uses a seven-line blue laser and near-infrared scanning in a 260 g body, with accuracy to 0.03 mm and scan speeds up to 110 fps.

Other suppliers are also pushing professional-grade features toward lower price points. Revopoint's Trackit SR wireless scanner offers marker-free optical tracking metrology and single-frame accuracy of 0.02 mm, with three scanning modes including a Deep Hole Mode that uses a single blue laser line. 3DMakerpro has emphasized ease of use with its Toucan all-in-one scanner, which lets users scan, edit and fuse complete 3D models without a computer.

As consumer brands add scanning to their portfolios, capturing physical objects is becoming part of the same workflow as making them. ELEGOO is now competing in both areas.
