BP Pulse has joined ChargeHub's Passport Hub roaming platform, bringing more than 850 charging points across more than 95 locations into the North American roaming network.

The newly announced integration allows EV drivers to find, access and pay for charging at BP Pulse sites through the ChargeHub app. The chargers will also become accessible to users of other e-mobility service providers and automakers connected to Passport Hub.

Scope of the integration

The agreement expands the reach of BP Pulse's North American charging infrastructure by making it available through a wider range of third-party platforms. ChargeHub, in turn, adds another charging network to its roaming ecosystem.

The announcement did not specify how many of the charging points are rapid or ultra-rapid chargers, or whether all 850-plus points are available through every Passport Hub partner.

How Passport Hub works

Passport Hub is ChargeHub's roaming platform, connecting charging networks with mobility service providers and vehicle manufacturers. It is designed to simplify access to public charging by allowing drivers to use their existing apps and services across multiple networks rather than registering separately with each charge point operator.

Roaming arrangements are meant to let drivers use a single app or service across multiple charging networks. In this case, the ChargeHub app is the direct consumer route named in the announcement, while other eMSPs and automakers connected to Passport Hub can offer access through their own existing services. The companies did not say which additional partners will list the BP Pulse sites.

Executive comments

Sujay Sharma, BP Pulse's VP of EV Charging, US, said the partnership expands access to the BP Pulse network through trusted roaming partners for EV drivers on the road. He added that charging networks working better together benefits the entire EV ecosystem and is an important step toward accelerating EV adoption.

Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, said a network like BP Pulse choosing to connect through Passport Hub is a strong signal that the hub model has become the way roaming gets done in North America. Because it is a hub, he said, the impact goes beyond the ChargeHub app: eMSPs and automakers in the ecosystem can offer their drivers access to BP Pulse fast chargers through connections they already have. When one major network joins, he said, the whole ecosystem gets better at once.

The integration adds BP Pulse to a roaming model intended to reduce the need for drivers to hold separate accounts with each charging operator. For ChargeHub, the addition broadens the pool of networks available through Passport Hub; for BP Pulse, it creates another route for drivers to access its sites.
