Tutor Time: Adopt a Country

Delivery idea

Tutor groups each adopt a country competing in Rugby World Cup 2015. Each group creates a noticeboard for its tutor room, presenting information about that country/team. Groups then share presentations about their countries in assemblies. Content could focus on geographical facts, culture and the country's involvement in Rugby.

How to do it

Either the tutor or the students could select a country but make sure there is a spread across the different tutor groups. Provide materials for the students to create an interesting and attractive display. Encourage them to develop their ICT skills in developing presentations, as well as drawing on their other creative skills. Teachers should act as facilitators and enable the students to lead their own project.

When/ where to use it

Start the project in the term before the Rugby World Cup starts so that presentations are prepared in advance and students' interest in the event is raised.
