Deliver one or a series of assemblies on how Rugby World Cup 1995 celebrated the end of Apartheid.
Option one: the teacher delivers whole school assemblies on Apartheid and how the Rugby World Cup 1995 celebrated the transformation of South Africa into a more integrated, post-Apartheid society.
Option two: with teacher support, students research, design and deliver whole school assemblies on the above theme.
Option three: teachers and students follow up in tutor time, using supporting resources to encourage discussion.
Use this at any time to raise awareness of social and political issues in school. Link to citizenship and/or PSHE. Possibly best time to use it is to coincide with Rugby World Cup 2015 opening ceremony or final.
